Ways To Maximize Your Jewelry Collection Without Spending A Fortune

7 Ways To Maximize Your Jewelry Collection Without Spending A Fortune
by: Melanie Spark

Resize your favorite ring(s). Did you know that both sterling silver and gold rings are sizable? In most cases, either can be sized up or down by two sizes. The biggest deciding factor is the thickness of the ring and whether or not there is enough metal to make the change. In general, sterling silver is more affordable to size than gold.

Bracelets can be versatile. If you own a bracelet with a large enough clasp, you can use one of your pendants to convert it into a charm bracelet. To make it work, simply hook the clasp into the bail of your pendant. This works particularly well with coin pendants, which gives you the look of a very rich jewelry design.

Necklaces have many uses. You can take a 20" necklace, wrap it twice around your ankle and have the look of a 10" double anklet. If you wear a 9" anklet, you can do the same with an 18" necklace. If you have a longer necklace, you may be able to use it as a delicate belt to adorn your favorite little black dress.

Use your bracelet as an extender. If you have a matching necklace and bracelet set, you can add instant length to your necklace by attaching the matching bracelet to the clasp. For instance, an 18" chain can instantly become a 25" necklace if you attach a 7" bracelet. This would allow you to wear the necklace over a turtleneck sweater in the fall and winter or drape it over your favorite tank-top in the summer.

Make the most of your charms. If you have matching charms, consider adding them to your hoop earrings for an instant dangle. This is a fun look that allows you to spruce up some simple hoops without spending a fortune.

Turn your pin into a pendant. If you love the look of a pin and would enjoy having the same design in a necklace, simply slide your favorite chain underneath the closed pin-back and you have an instant pendant. Be sure to take note of the weight of the pin and consider whether or not your necklace is strong enough to support it properly.

Create your own watch. If you have a bracelet that you absolutely love, why not consider turning it into a watch? Take your bracelet to a jeweler and simply ask him/her to remove a few links and add a watch face in their place. This should be a fairly simple process for a knowledgeable jeweler, and it can save you a bundle. Watches, both silver and gold, are expensive and it can be difficult to find a design that you love. But with you acting as the designer, anything is possible.

Almost Diamonds, a popular online retailer specializing in sterling silver jewelry, has a complete line of items featuring cubic zirconia and genuine gemstones in a variety of styles to choose from. If you are looking to maximize your jewelry collection without minimizing your wallet, consider the affordable option of sterling silver. Not only is this a precious metal that’s designed to last forever, but it also is an economical way to get the look of platinum or white gold without spending a fortune.

Anti-aging Tips To Stay Younger Longer - Can’t figure out where to start to improve the quality of your lifestyle? Here are some simple things to help

Nine Anti-aging Tips To Stay Younger Longer
by: Barbara Morris, R.Ph.

Can’t figure out where to start to improve the quality of your lifestyle? Here are some simple things to help get started. If you can follow the suggestions for a month, you will be well on your way to reducing belly fat AND establishing an anti-aging lifestyle. It’s not difficult – if you really want to do it. Remember, these are baby steps, but you have to start some place.

1. Check your fridge. If you use butter, you can use less by diluting it half-and-half with olive oil. Let a bar of butter soften to room temperature. Beat it smooth and gradually beat in an equal amount of olive oil. It will be runny but will set up to a soft spread in the fridge.

2. Rethink the mayo. If you can’t live without it, make your own with olive oil. Then you will really have something worthwhile to spread on bread or to make a salad.

3. If you eat peanut butter, buy Smart Balance peanut butter for it’s omega- 3 content. If you are not taking an omega-3 supplement, you should.

4. Keep a gallon bottle of water on the kitchen counter or at work. Drink at least half of it every day. Having it in plain sight will help you drink more of it.

5. Check your pantry. Don’t restock chips, cookies, soda, toaster pastries, sugary breakfast “cereals” (a misnomer if ever there was one!) It’s just as quick and easy to scramble a couple of eggs for breakfast as it is to wait for a pastry to toast. I know how tough it is to get rid of the nutritionally bankrupt junk, so do it in small steps if you can’t do it cold turkey.

6. Substitute whole grain bread for white bread. Beware of “wheat” bread – it’s probably not whole wheat. If possible, go to a whole foods market and get some real whole wheat bread. In my area, I can buy incredibly good whole grain bread from Alvarado Street Bakery. You can buy it online, and if you do, put it in the freezer the minute it arrives. Because it’s “live” and preservative free, it will get moldy very quickly if you leave it out. I particularly enjoy the Alvarado sprouted whole grain bread.

7. Having a whole foods market nearby makes it easy to cut down on processed food. If you make a trip a couple of times a week you can get all the super-fresh veggies and fruit you will need to provide a healthier diet for your family. For protein, focus on chicken – preferably baked or roasted. I use a lot of ground turkey – you can prepare it so many ways. If you work and are pressed for time, many whole foods markets offer excellent take out. It may cost more but it's usually worth it.

You will notice I did not mention fish. I rarely buy fish because it’s so difficult to get good fish. If I can’t get wild salmon or other fish that hasn’t been farm raised, I don’t bother. I would never eat shrimp because it causes too many intestinal problems. There is another way to get the benefits of eating fish – in fish oil capsules. True, you run the risk of contamination there as well. But I think I’d rather opt for the capsules than supermarket fish that looks like it’s seen better days, and probably has.

8. Skip fried anything as much as possible. And you certainly won’t need your deep fat fryer anymore, so throw it away. (Well okay, give it away. But you won’t be doing anyone a favor.)

9. If you are an emotional eater, eat unbuttered popcorn or dry roasted nuts, such as almonds or cashews. You can flavor popcorn with garlic salt or any seasoning of your choice. Or try spritzing on garlic flavored olive oil. Drink green tea to wash it down. Most commercial green teas are bitter or tasteless but I have found some very tasty teas at Clipper teas.

This should be more than enough to help you start to live a healthier, anti-aging lifestyle. Start with at least one step and add others as you develop a system you will stick with.

Custom Jewelry And Enhancer Bails Work For Your Pendant

Custom Jewelry And Enhancer Bails Work For Your Pendant
by: Victor Epand

Enhancer Bails Work. Generally, an enhancer is a bail which opens to allow the necklace, pearls, for instance, to be inserted and the enhancer is closed to secure it to the necklace. The types of closures are an important consideration. Some only "snap" shut. Others only have a small "figure 8" shaped safety that folds from one side over a small bead on the other to make the closure.

The "figure 8" safety is one commonly seen on bangle bracelets, gold necklaces with box or cylindrical clasps and on bracelets. The most secure type of enhancer both "snaps" shut and has the "figure 8" safety for added assurance the enhancer will not come open while being worn on the necklace.

Generally, a 14k gold enhancer bail will run from about $50 to $90 in the most common sizes. Fancier ones and added stones will certainly increase the price. If the pendant you have will need a loop soldered on to fit the enhancer, or if the enhancer must be soldered to the pendant, the cost will rise a little. A simple loop soldered on will be about $14 to $18 in my neck of the woods. Solder directly to the enhancer will run from $10 to perhaps $15, including soldering and refinishing. This is added to the cost of the enhancer.

Prices certainly may vary from location to location. Keep in mind, in the usa most jewelers can get the findings, parts, like enhancer bails, for essentially the same prices, regardless of location. For any pendant, and enhancer of the right size is needed to maintain balance in the look of the jewelry. The enancer should fit the necklace and not overpower or look too small for the pendant.

Then again, a necklace of pearls should also balance in size with the pendant. I have seen some enhancers which are much too large for the pendant part of the jewelry and detract from the beauty. If the necklace requires a larger opening, you might choose a longer and more "slim" enhancer which can accommodate a larger necklace but is narrow enough to look in balance with the pendant.

The best thing I can suggest is to go to a jewelry shop and ask to see enhancers. Generally, not many are kept in stock since it is very difficult to predict what a particular customer may need. You can generally see life sized images in catalogs from suppliers. At this time, the store should be able to tell you what labor or modifications to your pendant are needed to fit the enhancer.

There is alot of people that are looking for a some custom jewelery like a gold jerusalem cross pendant with small diamonds or cz at the center of each cross. This unusual form of cross is not likely to be found in stock in jewelry stores. Sometimes these stores will have cross jewelry but most will not be made in gold.

My suggsent is, you will likely have to go to jewelry stores and ask if they can special order the cross for you. At this time of the year, the sooner you can do this the better. Once you get the cross, any competent jeweler should be able to add a stone to the cross.

I did find one jewelry supplier who has a Jerusalem Cross in their religious jewelry catalog. This company is Stuller Findings. The company sells only to businesses but so many jewelry stores use Stuller for supplies and various jewelry items it should not be too difficult to find a store with a Stuller account. The cross could then be ordered. The order would need to specify white gold.

Alternative suggestion. There are many of these crosses listed on Internet sellers sites along with other jewelry that you might like. I do not know if white gold is available or not and that will take a search and perhaps an inquiry to the seller. If you can get the cross that way, still, a local jeweler should have little problem setting a stone in the cross. Whether stones may be set in the side crosses will depend on how the cross is made in the first place. Center should be no problem in the larger cross.

Custom Work: A jewelry store who advertises "custom work" should be able to make the cross if you cannot find one. This approach will be more expensive and it might be pushing to get this custom work done by the time that you need it at. If you try the custom direction, please download and print or otherwise get pictures of the cross for the jeweler to see. This will be needed to get the cross done properly and initially to work up and estimate of cost.

There are certainly some other suppliers that jewelry stores use who will have a Jerusalem cross available. When checking stores, I recommend local stores first and not mall chain stores. Local stores often have a lot more flexibility for special ordered items such as the cross. Local stores are often more eager to place a special order than some chain stores appear to be.

Bracelet, Choosing The Right Bracelet Tips On Buying A Bracelet.

If you are looking for a bracelet, there are a few things that you should know. A bracelet would normally be more expensive than a ring. This is because the gold or silver weight in your bracelet would be more than what a ring weighs. If you are interested in a gemstone bracelet, the cost of the gemstones will also add to the price tag of the bracelet. A good quality bracelet cannot be cheap and this is the reason why you should make a proper evaluation of a bracelet before buying it. In this article we will provide you with simple and easy steps to check a bracelet before you buy it. We do hope that your jeweller will provide you with advice and suggestions, but most jewellers are more interested in rushing the buyer to make a purchase.

The first thing that you should consider is the basic design of the bracelet. The design should be streamlined without sharp or pointed edges. Sharp edges can not only injure delicate skin, but also get bent or dented easily. The type of mounting used for the diamonds and gemstones in your bracelet will depend on the design. Prongs used to mount gems need to be sturdy and strong. If the gemstones in your bracelet are mounted with thin needle-like prongs, the prongs can get caught in pockets and other places. This causes the prongs to gradually open up, this ofcourse loosens the gemstones which can then drop off. The design dimensions for your bracelet should take the metal weight into consideration. A wide width with low gold or silver weight, will mean that the metal is too thin. This can cause your bracelet to lose shape and get damaged.

The metal weight of the bracelet is another important thing to be checked. Good mounting of the gemstones or diamonds in your bracelet will need sufficient gold or silver weight. There can be no standard weight suitable for all bracelets, much will depend on the design, the number of gems and diamonds, the length and width of the bracelet etc. Looks can be deceptive so pay special attention to the weight of your bracelet. In general you can be sure that, ladies bracelets with a metal weight that is less than 10 grams will not be durable and sturdy. Your jeweller might tell you that, healthy metal weight will make your bracelet appear clumsy and bulky. Stop believing this nonsense, the truth is that the design needs to ensure that the bracelet does not appear bulky. The design for your bracelet should have good metal thickness, this will not be visible from the front of the bracelet. Compromising on the gold or silver weight of your bracelet would also mean that, the links that connect the segments of the bracelet will be weak. This can cause the bracelet to snap, it could then easily fall off your wrist and get lost. So remember that, good metal weight is essential for gold or silver bracelets.

You should also be given a wide range of gemstone options to select for your bracelet. Many jewellers use whatever few gemstones they have and put a bracelet together. This does not work to your advantage as you are restricted in your choice. You could choose the gemstones in your bracelet based on color, type, birthstone or traditional beliefs. For example, a mother's bracelet could include the birthstone of the mother and all her children. Such family birthstone bracelets can be made only if a wide choice of gems is available. There is ofcourse the issue of budget that you have at your disposal. You might see a gorgeous sapphire bracelet but, the sapphires could drive the bracelet out of your budget. You should be allowed to choose the same bracelet with cheaper gems like, blue topaz, iolite or probably cheaper sapphires. A jeweller with limited access to gems and production facilities will restrict your choice too. There is also the issue of conditions in which your bracelet would be worn. For example, an emerald bracelet needs special care when wearing and storing, this is because of the nature of emeralds. You might pefer the same bracelet design with green tourmaline instead of emeralds. Your jeweller will need to satisfy your requirements and not the other way round.

The metal for your bracelet will be a component of the price tag, a gold bracelet would add a substantial amount to the price tag. You should therefore have the option to choose gold or silver for your bracelet. Most jewellers are very eager to sell gold bracelets, but will either ignore you are provide you with second grade service if you talk about a silver bracelet. This is sad but true, so look for a jeweller who is willing to make a good quality silver bracelet for you if that is what you want. It is often said and rightly that, a good quality silver bracelet is better than a delicate and light weight gold bracelet. When you choose your silver bracelet remember that, no compromises regarding gemstone choice or craftsmanship need be made. For gold bracelets, you should have the option to select a 14k or 18k bracelet and also choose the gold color. If you are looking for a white gold bracelet, there is no reason why you should be happy with a yellow gold aquamarine bracelet. Jewellers make gold bracelets with low weight, this is done to allow lower price tags. They really don't care what problems these light weight junk will cause you after the payment has been made.

Insist on good craftsmanship for your bracelet, this should be the case for gold or silver bracelets. Bad craftsmanship could also mean loose gemstones and badly connected links. It is true that mass produced bracelets cannot be given individual attention. This is the reason why a custom bracelet could be best for you. Good craftsmanship is essential for ladies and men's bracelets, make sure that your bracelet is well crafted. Good craftsmanship provides more than just good appearance for your bracelet, this will clearly work to your advantage in the longterm.

Let us now summarize the features that you should check for before buying a bracelet. A good design, proper mounting of gems and diamonds, and good metal weight are top priority. You should be allowed to order your bracelet with your choice of gold karatage and color and your choice of gems. Make sure that the links for the bracelet components are strong, it would be sad if your bracelet snapped and fell off. Do not forget to check that the clasp for the bracelet is strong and durable. Various clasp designs are available and some boast of a double locking mechanism. Many jewellers use thin and tiny clasps as, they do not want to waste gold or silver weight on that part of the bracelet. A loose clasp can cause the bracelet to open when least expected, depending on where this happens, you could even risk losing the bracelet. Finally, make sure that the diamonds and gems are firmly mounted. Expensive repairs could result if some of the diamonds or gems drop off and get lost. Remember that, new stone replacements will need to match the remaining gems in the bracelet. This could be a difficult task and jewellers will request premium prices for such repairs.

The above information does not tell you where to buy your bracelet from. We prefer to provide you with information that will guide you to make the right bracelet selection. You can see some interesting bracelet designs at this link:

Tips For Long Lasting Summer Nail Polish - Warm weather is here, and that means most of us will be wearing nail polish more often to show off our hand

Six Tips For Long Lasting Summer Nail Polish
by: Sally Hart

Warm weather is here, and that means most of us will be wearing nail polish more often to show off our hands and feet. The barer summer clothes and sandals mean your feet and hands will be center stage, so putting a few extra minutes into proper nail care is must for the prettiest looks. Whether you are applying nail polish to your hands or toes, the basic principles to make your manicure or pedicure last are the same.

1. Prepare your nails properly before polishing. Nail polish won’t adhere well to nails that are dirty or oily. Wash your hands thoroughly to remove any lotions, dirt or oils, and then brush each nail with a bit of nail polish remover. This will remove all oils from the nail itself and prepare it for accepting polish.

2. Lightly buff your nails and file off any rough edges. Polish will be more prone to peeling and flaking if the nails are rough around the edges or have ridges in them. Filing and buffing gives a smoother surface so that polish won’t flake.

3. Choose the right polish. Did you know that nail polish expires? Most brands will only last about a year before they become thicker and start to clump. Polish that’s too thick will go on thicker and won’t dry well, leading to more chance of smearing or smudging. Most nail polish formulas are similar and will last almost a week, but fast drying formulas are an exception. The extra ingredients that allow fast drying polishes to set so quickly also makes them peel more quickly, so try to avoid fast-dry formulas unless you absolutely have to use them. The extra few minutes spent drying a standard nail polish will be well worth it if your manicure lasts days longer.

4. Care for your polish properly. Summer weather is especially tough on nail polish – the high temperatures can cause polish to separate and the color to change. To keep your nail polish in top condition, refrigerate it in the summer. You should also clean the polish bottle carefully after each use by wiping the outside edge of the bottle with a cotton ball soaked in nail polish remover to keep the bottle from sticking shut. Finally, be sure that you gently blend the nail polish before applying by rolling the bottle between your hands. Shaking a bottle of polish will create air bubbles in the polish that can cause bumps and clumps when you apply it – guaranteed to shorten the life span of your manicure or pedicure.

5. Use a base coat and top coat. It takes a bit more time to do a complete manicure rather than just throwing on some polish, but its well worth the effort. After your nails are clean, be sure to apply a base coat; this product prepares the nail for polish and gives nail polish something to cling to so that it lasts longer. Follow this with two thin coats of polish in the desired color, and then finish off with a quality top coat. When you apply the top coat, be sure to run the brush horizontally across the tip of the nail with a bit of it going under the edge of the nail. This will help prevent peeling and seals the manicure properly.

6. Don’t rush things. Be sure to let your nails dry five to ten minutes between each coat. If the coat below isn’t completely dry before you add the next one, your nails won’t dry properly for quite a while, leading to chips and smudges. If you are in a rush or simply impatient, plunge your nails into ice water for a few seconds between coats – this will quickly dry and seal the polish.

Enjoy your beautifully painted, long lasting nails! Remember not to open soda cans or pick at envelopes with your freshly painted nails. Using your nails as tools won’t help you keep your nail polish fresh at all!

Antique Jewelry - Getting to grips with the basics of Antique Jewelry

Antique Jewelry - Getting to grips with the basics of Antique Jewelry
by: Scott James

For those with a real love of Antique Jewelry, by now you will have realised that it can cost substantial amounts of money. But if you spend some time learning how to buy antique jewelry wholesale, you can save yourself heaps.

In the age of the Web , it is common for people to head for online auction sites, such as eBay, in the hope of finding a bargain. Amongst thousands trying to do the same thing there is going to be massive competition. Sadly again, you are likely to find that the seller has just as much if not more experience as you have and as such they will have priced their auction correctly.

This does not mean that bargains cannot be found at online auctions. It's still worth keeping an eye on the more popular sites, just in case. Remember to keep an eye out in several sections as well as just the antiques section. An essential part of using online auctions is to establish the credibility of your seller before you enter in a bid. At times like these it is probably advisable to make sure you have access to the services of a credible escrow service. More importantly, communicate with the seller to make sure you understand exactly what you're buying.

The Internet is not your only resource on bargain jewelry to be had if you know where to look, there are equally valuable resources available elsewhere. Remember sometimes to find the best results you need to be able to look in areas others simply cannot compete in. One great resource is your local newspaper. there is a possibility that the seller might be slightly ignorant of what it is they have to sell. This has to increase your chances of getting a bargain from local sources.

If you're going to trawl local sales for bargains, though, don't make it too obvious when you're interested in a piece of jewelry. Try not to make it too obvious that you are interested to a certain item if you are going to try and search for bargains local sales. It is unwise to show interest too soon in any one category and this may cause the seller to increase their charges Too much interest too soon can alert the owner and you are likely to put them off. After all, if you're familiar with antique jewelry then your hunch is probably right. You may well find that you actually say more by taking the jewelry off site once you've bought it and confirming your suspicions in private.

This means that you may end up buying some worthless junk along the way, but that's okay. The genuine pieces you find will more than make up for the few bucks you spend on false starts.

Once you find your first bargain it is entirely possible that you become addicted to the entire process. In a lot of cases estate sales can produce better returns even if they are more infrequent than yard sales. It happens quite regularly that the grandchildren of some wealthy families are completely unaware as to the value of their family’s jewelry.

Their motivation may be purely driven by the fact that they desperately need the money. Sadly in today’s world this may be more and more common as the heirs of formerly wealthy families come to realise that the upkeep of family homes can be more expensive than foreseen.

Can You Get Rid Of Skin Wrinkles With Face Lifts And Cosmetic Surgery?

Can You Get Rid Of Skin Wrinkles With Face Lifts And Cosmetic Surgery?
by: Marcus Ryan

By nature, we are all destined to age. It is inevitable. One day, we will all have lines and wrinkles in places that are visible and places that are not!

However, modern day technology and cosmetic surgery have provided us all with a means to halt the aging process. One of the main ways that individuals avoid facial wrinkles is the surgical face lift.

A face lift can make us look years younger for much longer than would otherwise be possible, but you can choose the right face lift for you because there is a variety of options.

The surgical face lift became popular on the celebrity circuit in the 1970s and 1980s, but only the most affluent of individuals could afford the procedure. However, the option is open to most individuals today because surgical face lifts are more affordable than ever.

When you look at the difference between face lifts then and now you will see a big improvement in the techniques and methods used.

In the 1980s, facial skin was pulled so tight that people noticed the surgery. There was also much more scarring than today. You could see the former whereas you would need a microscope to see the latter.

There are several types of facelifts and we'll look at just a few options.

The deep plane face lift began back in the 1980s and it proved that beauty really is skin deep because this procedure could knock ten or more years off of a 40 year old woman. That's because it gets to the root of the problem, the muscles in the face, which sag as we age. This causes us to loose tone, which then causes the skin to stretch.

As a result too often the skin is blamed for what is actually a muscle problem. This procedure starts by addressing the real problem and tightening the muscles, and then it moves to the surface. The results are very impressive.

Next up is the mini face lift, and this is perfect for individuals in their mid thirties through their mid forties. Regardless of whether you are male or female, this type of face lift will have a revolutionary effect on you because it tightens the muscles and the deep tissue around the face and thus tightens it up nicely.

Despite the work required for this procedure to be successful, there will be very little scarring of the tissue and the recovery time is therefore shorter than other face lifts. However, it only tends to work around your face so the nose and cheeks will remain the same in appearance.

The 1980s was the peak of the surgical face lift's popularity, but that popularity has waned today. It is still a viable choice for women trying to fend off the aging effects of time.

You should always consult a surgeon before having any procedure done because he or she will be able to advise you as to what would work best for you.

As long as you take the advice that he or she offers, then you can remain youthful and beautiful on the outside as well as the inside indefinitely!

Say 'No' To Aging - Anti Aging Secrets
by: Michael Douglas

We all have seen our grandparents and parents grow old and most of us protest against the idea of aging in the same ways they did. In fact, we look for safer, more convenient and medically sound way to live longer, empower ourselves, and remain healthy throughout life. We may refer to it as 'quality longevity.' The everyday choices that we make have a greater impact on us than genetics, which account for only one-third of what determines our health as we age.

Hence, the quality of life is very much in our hands. Empowering ourselves for the future requires learning new skills as well as honing the ones we already have. Try some of these strategies to live longer, feel and look younger.

Sharpen your mind:

A sharp mind helps in staying fit. We're more inclined to have good relationships, eat well and live a healthy lifestyle with a sharper mind. Doing mental aerobics can improve memory and lower your risk for Alzheimer's disease. A recent study found that when we keep our minds active, brain efficiency increases dramatically, even after just a few weeks. Try different approaches to expanding your mental horizons, whether it's travelling to new destinations, learning a musical instrument, or going back to school. Stay mentally active through puzzles, games, reading and other stimulating hobbies, but be sure to train and not strain your brain.

Cultivate healthy relationships:

Socially connected people have longer life expectancies than isolated individuals. Cultivate intimacy with your partner since good sex makes for a longer life. Not only does it bring people closer together, it lowers blood pressure, reduces pain, promotes restful sleep and boosts the immune system so we are better able to fight off infections. Our ability to understand another person's emotional viewpoint and to express that understanding is the social glue that keeps us together.

Reduce stress:

We can't completely eliminate stress from our lives, but we can learn healthier responses to it. We all can try to minimise stress to live longer and better. You can do it in many ways. Like control clutter in your home. Get more realistic about how much you take on each day. Try eliminating just a few items from your to-do list. Regular meditation reduces stress and also boosts the immune system. Empower yourself with the word 'no.'

Think positive:

Optimists have a greater life expectancy than pessimists. Make an effort to see the cup half-full. Recent studies show that we can learn optimism when we set our minds to it. Discover your spiritual life. Attending a house of worship once a week is associated with a seven-year-longer survival compared with never attending. Take care of your needs. Satisfied people are twice as likely to survive compared with dissatisfied individuals.

Manage your environment:

Our environment has a big influence on how we feel and how long we live. Whether it's traffic, noise, or other aspects of the environment at large, or more personal environmental issues such as aesthetics or bedroom temperature, our 'quality longevity' requires that we not only adapt to these influences but learn to shape them to meet our individual tastes and needs. Bear in mind function and aesthetics when designing your home and workspace. Manage your technology to avoid information overload.

Talk to the stylist about the whole thing, whatever doubts or queries that you have in your mind must be clarified before you undergo the process. Hair extension is a complicated process, so you must make sure that the stylist has the experience and the ability to do hair extensions without any hassles. Go for natural hair extensions as opposed to artificial ones. Natural hair always looks better and make sure that the color and texture match your natural hair perfectly.

For hair extensions stylists use certain chemical glue to bond artificial hair with your natural hair. What you have to take care of is to find out if you have any allergic reaction to the chemicals that are used in the glue. If you have any kind of allergic reaction, this can turn out to be really bad for your hair, so be cautious about this. Talk to the stylist in advance and tell him or her about your condition, so that he will use other chemicals to bond the artificial hair. Go for a new hairstyle, you deserve to pamper yourself once a while and what better way to get pampered then going for hair extensions?

Indian Bridal Jewelry From Head To Toe

Indian Bridal Jewelry From Head To Toe
by: Harpreet Vohra

Girls just love weddings. They consider it as one of the most important days of their lives. Some of them even start thinking about their dream weddings when they are old enough to know what a wedding is all about. Among the girls all over the world, it must be the Indian girls who love to associate Indian bridal jewelry with their wedding daydreams. This is because in India, the jewelry is an essential part of any woman's wedding day. The Indian tradition calls for brides to be decked with Indian bridal jewelry from head to toe. All the pieces of jewelry would have to complement each other as well as the outfit that the Indian bride is wearing.

Indian bridal jewelry does not have to mean the ones that are worn during the wedding day only but also on the engagement party that an Indian bride-to-be might be having before her big day. The Indian bridal jewelry would have to include earrings, nose rings, necklaces, bracelets or bangles as well as anklets and other possible adornments of the body that could be made with precious stones. These jewelries could be made of the most precious gems like diamonds, rubies, sapphires and emeralds among others, set in gold, silver or platinum. Whatever the type of Indian bridal jewelry, brides would want them to fit the colors of the outfit that she will be wearing on both her engagement and her wedding day.

It is expected though that the Indian bridal jewelry that will be worn on a bride-to-be's engagement party would be different than the ones that will adorn her body on her wedding day. During the engagement party, the jewelry would have to be less heavy and simpler in design. It is not uncommon for Indian brides to have their Indian bridal jewelry for both their engagement and wedding dates to be designed specifically for them. This is especially true for those who are rich and extravagant in their tastes of jewelry.

They would have different sets of Indian bridal jewelry for both occasions custom-designed preferably by known jewelry designers. For the engagement, it is accepted that the bride-to-be will wear just a one piece of jewelry like an elaborately designed necklace embedded with precious stones. In other times though this piece of Indian bridal jewelry would be complemented with earrings that are simply designed but is equally opulent in terms of the appliquéd stones as well as with a bracelet of the same design or precious stone embellishments.

On the wedding date itself, the bride would wear the heavy Indian bridal jewelry that she had made. These Indian bridal jewelry generally consists of the Maangtika or that piece of Indian bridal jewelry that most if not all Indian brides wear on their heads, the necklace, the nose ring, the earrings, the waistband, the anklets and the rings for the toes as well as the bangles worn on the arm.

The Maangtika is generally designed for the bride herself and will go well with the other jewelry that will adorn her body. The other pieces of jewelry that make the entire Indian bridal jewelry are designed according to the colors of the wedding trousseau. While it is okay to be understated when it comes to the colors of the precious gems embedded in the Indian bridal jewelry, Indian brides most often than not go for eye-catching pieces that are bold in colors. For the Indian bride, the most opulent the Indian bridal jewelry is, the better.

Long Hairstyles

Long Hairstyles
by: David Yu

There are many different long hairstyles for those with long hair, whether it is crimpy, curly, or stick straight. Having long hair is great, because it is very versatile and can be styled into many different ways. All different hair colors look great when they are long, because they can be formed into specific hairstyles that will complement the color. No matter what type of hair you have, you can style your long hair into many beautiful looks.

Those with long curly hair have many different options when it comes to styling their hair. While being curly is great, long hair looks great when it is straight, and this can be done with a hot iron. If you have extremely curly or frizzy hair, you may want to consider using a straightening serum or spray to reduce the look of fuzz. Another great way to wear curly hair is down, since the curls give it great body and bounce. If you have curly hair and long bangs, you can tease your bangs and clip them back with cute barrettes. This will add great body to your bangs, and make your face stand out more. Some summer looks for curly hair include big ringlets, pulled up, and even half up half down looks. Because natural curls add body to the hair, there is no need to do excessive styling on long curly hair.

Straight hair is just as great as curly hair, because it can be formed into almost anything. Straight hair works great for ponytails, long braids, or even the simple straight down look. Those with straight hair can easily transform into curls or crimps with a little heat, but looks great for the summer with the stick straight look. Long hair works great for when you put your hair up, because it is very transformable and able to be tied back easily. Some straight hair may require a great amount of hair products to keep it in place, but looks great almost any way.

Both straight and curly long hair looks offer many different hairstyle opportunities. Wearing the hair down is a simple yet sophisticated look, while a nice bun would look great for an office atmosphere. Beautiful prom looks can be achieved for those with long hair, as well as those hitting the club on Friday night. Having long hair gives you the chance to style in almost any way you can think of, making it possible to look your best every day of the week. You can go straight or curly, up or down. You can put it all up or choose to leave some down. No matter what you choose to do with your long hair, you can make a look work for almost any situation you can think of.

Women's Hair Loss - Finally the Solution to To Thinning Hair

Women's Hair Loss - Finally the Solution to To Thinning Hair
by: Jim Watson

An estimated 40% of women experience noticeable hair loss by the age 40. Women rarely lose their hair due to genetic predisposition. However hair loss in women is reaching new high levels. Women's hair loss can start as early as the late teens to early twenties. Most commonly, women experience an overall thinning of hair rather than a receding hair line like men do. It is normal to lose 50 to 150 hairs in a day; however hair loss in women usually occurs when these hairs start to be replaced by shorter, thinner hairs. This can be hard to notice at first, but over time it can become very apparent. Thinning hair loss in women may be caused by many problems:

Hormonal imbalance and other cyclical shifts.

Hair loss related to pregnancy postmenopausal trauma.

Effects of medications including birth control pills.

Nervous conditions including tension and stress.

Medical treatments such as chemo therapy and thyroid conditions.

Harsh chemicals such as commercial shampoos, perms, hair color, and bleach

Iron, vitamin and mineral imbalance.

Severely poor diet including dehydration.

Poor circulation can cut off the nutrients that blood flow delivers to the scalp.

Good News For Hair Loss Suffers:

Women have a higher success rate than men, because they have less testosterone and fewer, more evenly dispersed receptor sites in the follicles. In as little as 3 months you can start to notice fuller, thicker hair and even new hair growth.

*Regenerx penetrates the hair shaft, restoring the follicle, resulting in thicker hair.

*Regenerx improves circulation by increasing blow flow to the scalp.

*Regenerx also acts as a thickening agent that naturally conditions and will not alter or damage color treated hair.

*Regenerx is all natural safe alternative to Rogaine however without the side effects associated with minoxidil which can include scalp irritation, itchiness and dryness. Also, unlike minoxidil, Regenerx does not contain any alcohol or propylene glycol (PPG) which can really irritate the scalp and alter or damage color treated hair.

Regenerx- Finally...the solution for thinning hair.

Regenerx was developed from clinical research work conducted at Department of Dermatology, Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, in Scotland.

Treatment with this aromatherapy formulation in the patients suffering from mild to severe hair loss showed significant improvement compared with the control group. Researchers have concluded that pharmacologically active stimulants for hair growth are present in this formulation of specific essential oils and that these oils can be therapeutic in patients with alopecia and thinning hair. The researchers also point out that the formulation caused no side effects, while steroids and other common agents can cause adverse side effects as described above.

Regenerx contains a unique blend of natural oils like cedarwood, rosemary, and lavender which help stimulate hair growth by increasing blood flow to the scalp. More blood flow allows more of the important nutrients and vitamins to reach the scalp. Increased blood circulation can help awaken previously dormant follicles and promote new hair growth.

Regenerx formulation also includes jojoba, grapeseed, thyme, and rosemary oils to help condition and revitalize the scalp. These ingredients contain antioxidants like vitamins E and C which neutralize free-radicals that can damage cells of the scalp. Natural oils like these moisturize and soften dry, damaged scalp to help restore hair follicles and promote healthy hair growth. Jojoba and grapeseed oils are also very effective carrier oils. Carrier oils promote the absorption of other oils into the skin to further increase their effectiveness.

Hair follicles can sometimes become clogged with build-ups of sebum that inhibit hair growth. It's important to clean out this build-up to make way for new hair growth. Lavender, thyme, and jojoba are natural oils that can clear out sebum to make way for new hair growth. In some cases bacteria can inhibit hair growth. These oils also have antiseptic properties that can destroy harmful bacteria and soothe the scalp to create a better environment for hair growth.

Women experiencing hormonal changes often find that their hair starts to thin and becomes brittle. Years of harsh treatment combined with blow-drying and exposure to the sun may irreparably damage hair and decrease volume. Regenerx is a natural way to bring back fuller hair by stimulating hair growth as well as volumizing existing hair using natural essential oils. Whether you are experiencing advanced women's hair loss, noticing a slight thinning of your hair, or want to prevent hair loss altogether. Regenerx provides a unique and effective treatment for women's hair loss that can have you seeing noticeable results just in three months. You don't have to suffer from the effects of hair loss. Finally there is a solution for thinning hair.

The Importance Of ACID/ALKALINE Balance:

How You Can Look Really Fashionable And Gorgeous With Significant Hair Loss

How You Can Look Really Fashionable And Gorgeous With Significant Hair Loss
by: Nicky Zip

Baldness amongst women is something hardly discussed in the fashion press and yet it is estimated that as many as 6 million women in the UK suffer with significant hair thinning, excessive hair shedding, androgenetic hair loss (the female equivalent of male baldness) and significant hair loss through the different forms of alopecia.

For men, baldness has become increasingly socially acceptable, with many men now shaving their heads. If anything this is the preferred trend, currently more acceptable than the ‘comb-over’ or the toupée. For women it still remains the final taboo, an embarrassment beyond open discussion.

Hair represents so many things to each individual, even if your hair before hair loss could hardly be described as your ‘crowning glory’. Your hair still probably conveyed your general well-being, your sense of style and personality, even your lifestyle. It’s highly understandable that for most women who have spent years defining and refining a hairstyle that makes them recognisable to family, friends and colleagues, should feel devastated at its loss.

With this taboo subject, there is little understanding of the social and psychological pressures women face. Hair loss isn’t about mere vanity for women, it is about trying to maintain a healthy attitude to body image, which is critical to the recovery process as well as coping with longer-term hair loss issues.

So how can you deal with those issues? How can you repair the damage to your self-esteem, your confidence, your body image, your look, your style?

Two common options spring to mind: wigs – improving all the time, with the more expensive light weight wefted and monofilament models and wig personalization cutting services becoming more available. However wigs in the summer months can prove hot and itchy when worn over prolonged periods of time. So let’s focus on the second fashion alternative - hats/ scarves. There is headwear available on the market specifically for women with hair loss, focusing on the practicalities of hiding that hair loss. Depending on your point of view, you could feel this actually highlights the problem, drawing attention to it, rather than softly distracting the eye away from it. And this doesn’t do much to build the self-esteem.

Most women report their biggest concern with the onset of significant hair loss is that they feel everyone is looking at them. How do women get to feel comfortable in their own bodies again or indeed feel they can simply blend in wherever they go? In fashion terms it’s all in the planning, take a good look in your wardrobe and figure out what you like to wear, what you feel good in and what other people tell you really suits you. List the number of complete outfits you can put your hand on and then think about how you’re going to accessorise those outfits to go with your new hair loss image. Jewellery is key, if you only wear gold or silver consider now picking up colour in a piece of jewellery, i.e. earrings or necklace that complement the colours of an outfit.

This also means coordinating headwear, coordinating because if you’re trying to ‘blend in’ it shouldn’t dominate your outfit, it should complement it and mimic the style of the outfit. The hat colour should ideally coordinate with you i.e. a colour selected because you know it suits your eyes/skin tone and the colour reflects something in the chosen outfit. Mimicking style can be hard for some people, for most of us it is ‘everyday casual’, in which case soft fabric hats are the most accessible style to find and feel comfortable in. Find a hat style that suits you and stick with it, duplicate it, triplicate it, purchase it in as many colours as you like to suit your key outfits. Suddenly life will feel ordered and calm, we’ve talked to women, who once they knew they were looking the best that they could, their confidence soared and they felt able to cope. Fashion for them becomes like that magical cloak but they don’t disappear, it simply deflects any curiosity and they can get out there and get on with life and focus on the important issue of recovery.

How do you achieve this? With a supportive network and an openness to experiment and work at achieving that new image. Headwear is nothing to be afraid of or concerned about, it is simply another item of clothing. Chose it well and it will serve you well and make you feel gorgeous, and people will only see the hat, your style, and you!

Hair Perm - Home Perm Hair Style

Hair Perm - Home Perm Hair Style
by: Jerry White

Making straight hair curly is not a new hair style idea. Women in ancient Egypt coated their hair in mud, wound it around wooden rods and then used the heat from the sun to create the curls. Waves that won't wash out are a more recent innovation. Modern perms were pioneered by A F Willat, who invented the "cold permanent wave" technique in 1934. Since then, improved formulations and ever more sophisticated techniques have made perm the most versatile option in hair style.

How Hair Perm works

Perm works by breaking down inner structures in your hair and reforming them around a curler to give a new shape. Hair should be washed prior to perming as this causes the scales on the cuticles to rise gently, allowing the perming lotion to enter the hair shaft more quickly. The perming lotion alters the Kertin and breaks down the sulphur bonds that link the fibre like cells together in the inner layers of each hair. When these fibres have become loose, they can be formed into a new shape, when the hair is stretched over a curler or a perming rod. Once the curlers or rods are in place, more lotion is applied and the perm is left to develop to fix the new shape. The development time can vary according to the condition and texture of the hair. When the development is complete, the changed links in the hair are re-formed into their new shape by the application of a second chemical known as the neutralizer. The neutralizer contains an oxidizing agent that is effectively responsible for closing up the broken links and producing the wave or curl permanently.

The type of curl that is produced depends on a number of factors. The size of the curler is perhaps the most important as this determines the size of the curl. Generally speaking the smaller the curler the smaller and therefore tighter the curl, whereas medium to large curlers tends to give a much looser effect. The strength of lotion used can also make a difference, as can the texture and type of hair. Hair in good condition takes a perm much better than hair in poor condition and fine hair curls more easily than coarse hair.

After a perm it takes 48 hours for the keratin in the hair to harden naturally. During this time the hair is vulnerable to damage and must be treated with care. Resist shampooing, brushing, vigorous combing, blow drying or set ting, any of which may cause the perm to drop. Once hair has been permed it remains curly and shaped the way it has been formed, although new growth will be straight. As time goes by the curl can soften and if the hair is long its weight may make the curl and the wave appear much looser.

Home Versus Salon Hair Perm

Perming is such a delicate operation that many women prefer to leave it in the hands of experienced, professional hair dressers. The advantages of having hair permed in a salon are several. The hair is first analyzed to see whether it is in fit condition to take a perm; colored, out-of-condition, or over-processed hair may not be suitable. With a professional perm there is also a greater choice in the type of curl - different strengths of lotion and different winding techniques all give a range of curls that are not available in home perm.

Home Rules For Perm Hair Style

If you do use a perm at home, it is essential that you read and follow the instructions supplied with the product. Remember to do a test curl to check whether your hair is suitable and check to make certain you have enough curlers. You will probably want to enlist the help of a friend, as it's impossible to curl the back sections of your own hair properly, so you will need a helping hand. Timing is crucial - don't be tempted to remove the lotion before the time given or leave it on longer than directed.

Salon Perms - The Choices

Professional hair dresser can offer a number of different types of perm that are not available for home use:

Acid perms produce highly conditioned flexible curls. They are ideally suited to hair that is fine, sensitive, fragile, damaged or tinted as they have a mildly acidic action that minimizes the risk of hair damage.

Alkaline perm give strong, firm curl result on normal and resistant hair.

Exothermic perm give bouncy, resilient curls. "Exothermic" refers to the gentle heat that is produced by the chemical reaction that occurs when the lotion is mixed. The heat allows the lotion to penetrate the hair cuticle, conditioning and strengthening the hair from inside as the lotion moulds the hair into its new shape.

Any of above types of perm can be used with different techniques to produce a number of results as under:- Body perm are very soft, loose perm created by using large curlers, or some times rollers. The results is added volume with a hint of wave and movement rather than curls. Root perms add lift and volume to the root area only. They give height and fullness and are therefore ideal for short hair that tends to go flat.

Spiral perm create romantic spiral curls, an effect that is produced by winding the hair around special long curlers. The mass of curls makes long hair look much thicker. Stack perm give curl and volume to one - length hair cuts by means of different sized curlers. The hair on top of the head is left unpermed while the middle and ends have curl and movements. Weave perms involve perming certain sections of hair and leaving the rest straight to give a mixture of texture and natural looking body and bounce, particularly on areas around the face such as the fringe.

Negative Side to Conventional Cosmetics

Negative Side to Conventional Cosmetics
by: Anastasia Ellison

Women and men spend millions of dollars every year attempting to improve the quality and health of their skin. They spend time and money on products and services to refinish the surface of their skin only to return to habits and routines that continue to damage both their skin and bodies. Most cosmetic and beauty products contain additives, preservatives, and chemicals designed to improve appearances at the cost of health. Not only do conventional cosmetics clog pores and weigh down skin, they also contain harmful toxins that absorb into the blood stream and into the body.

Companies create conventional cosmetics and beauty products using oils and fillers that weigh down skin and clog the pores. Although some of these products create the appearance of smooth, even skin, bacteria and dirt become trapped in the skin by the oils in conventional cosmetics and create pimples and blemishes. Most men and women then resort to even more cosmetic use to cover up these skin problems, resulting in an even greater incidence of clogged pores. Skin absorbs the oils and fillers in conventional cosmetics resulting in makeup that literally weighs down the face. Not only does foundation and powder look heavy, it also feels heavy. This heavy feeling results from not just the skin’s absorption of the product, but also the inability of the skin to breath.

The heavy binders and fillers of conventional cosmetics also contain chemical additives that are harmful to the body. Conventional beauty products such as foundation, blush, eye shadow, and bronzer contain a myriad of binders, toxins and dyes that absorb into the blood stream. A build up of such chemicals can produce allergic reactions and increased sensitivity in some men and women. Some of these allergies and sensitivities can result in chronic conditions and sustained sensitivity to conventional dyes, cosmetics and perfumes. Hypoallergenic products have risen as a result of consumers’ needs to use products less harmful on the body. Although most of these products still contain fillers that clog skin, the rise of products for sensitive skin proves that consumers have reacted poorly to conventional cosmetics.

Naked Minerals contains no additives, dyes, colors, fillers, binders, waxes, or any other ingredient beyond natural minerals. The Naked Minerals makeup is all-natural and uses only the finest minerals to create a cosmetic that improves skin appearance and quality without clogging pores. There are no oils in Naked Minerals that traditionally clog pores, and the weightless feel and function of Naked Minerals allows skin to breathe. Naked Minerals is completely hypoallergenic with none of the toxins or chemicals traditionally found in conventional cosmetics. All of the colors are naturally derived from their mineral origin and none contain the heavy oils found in conventional cosmetics.

Baby Doll Lingerie: Hints & Tips

Baby Doll Lingerie: Hints & Tips
by: Amanda Cotterill

Baby doll lingerie is one type of sexy lingerie that flatters almost every figure, from the full-bodied woman to the petite. Baby doll lingerie is also a classic style, dating back to the fifties. Baby doll lingerie has been in fashion for over 50 years, and that says a lot about its appeal to women of all ages, shapes and sizes. The popularity is due, in part, to the fact that baby doll screams young, innocent, and cute. What woman can argue with that?

Baby dolls are basically short, sleeveless negligees with shaped cups and loose fitting skirts (usually hitting mid-thigh or a little higher), but there are many types and styles available. The options include sheer baby doll lingerie, exotic print babydolls, and lace babydoll lingerie. Some favorite fabrics for baby doll lingerie are silk, nylon and chiffon. These are often trimmed with ruffles, lace, fur, bows or ribbons—and sometimes even several of these at once for an extremely sexy or risqué babydoll twist.

And sexy is what babydolls are all about, especially ones that come with matching panties, often thongs or g-strings. A sweet, sexy style like that is sure to make babydolls a big hit with the man in your life.

Lingerie Online

When shopping for baby doll lingerie, browse online from the privacy of your home. This is far different from when women of the 50s had to go into department stores to purchase risqué lingerie and felt as if the sales clerk was looking on with distaste. There is no more embarrassment, and online shopping has made it easier than ever to buy any type of sexy lingerie without a woman feeling she has a scarlet letter attached to her blouse!

Shopping Tips for Necklines

Some tips for purchasing baby doll lingerie include looking for a neckline complimentary to your bust line. Many babydoll lingerie pieces have V-necklines with built-in push-up cups. This type of neckline is great for anyone with a small bust or one that needs some lift to look its best. Scoop neck lines that are curved are good for full-busted women. If you’re petite, stay away from too many ruffles around the neckline of your baby doll lingerie because ruffles tend to overpower your face—and bust.

Color My World

Consider the color and pattern when shopping for baby doll lingerie. Red may scream sexy, but not if it’s the one color that makes you look as if you’ve had the flu or your skin already has pinkish tones. Choose colors that are flattering to your skin tone and hair color, just as you would for any type of clothing. Be wary of exotic patterns that can overpower and put too much tart into the innocent but sexy look you're aiming for.

Soft and Soothing

Finally, think about the fabrics. This may sound negligible, but soft and comfortable fabric is important if you’re planning to wear your baby doll lingerie often, and easy care is important too. Fabrics like silk may not be your best choice. That’s okay, because nylon makes a great substitute and is much more washer-friendly. After all, baby doll lingerie should bring extra fun into your life, not extra work!

Plus Size Lingerie: How To Show Off Your Curvy Figure

Plus Size Lingerie: How To Show Off Your Curvy Figure
by: Amanda Cotterill

Not long ago, it was difficult for women to find plus size lingerie. Thanks to designers who recognized that full-bodied women deserved lovely and erotic plus size lingerie, the search is over. Major department stores and boutiques of all sizes carry lines of beautiful full figure lingerie these days, and stores who cater to plus size women are also a great place to find larger size lingerie.

Still, many women find they’re uncomfortable going into these stores to shop for lingerie for larger sizes. They also find that the selections may be limited in individual stores, and they have to go from store to store to find just the plus size lingerie they’re looking for.

That’s usually when the Web becomes a plus size woman’s new best friend. With a simple click of a mouse, a full figured woman can find an endless assortment of lingerie. Doing so from the privacy of her own home gives a feeling of freedom and ease that she generally doesn’t feel when shopping in person. Without sales clerks hovering over her shoulder, a plus size woman has the autonomy and privacy she craves when she’s shopping for plus size lingerie. She can give over to her wild side completely and purchase whatever suits her taste, figure and sense of adventure.

One lingerie garment that no full figured woman should miss out on, however, is the plus size corset. It’s an absolute must-have. Why? A plus size corset is just perfect for showing off those gorgeous curves. It not only highlights them, it also perfects them into lush lavishness.

Another lingerie item that a plus size woman should have in her wardrobe is a baby doll. This garment often has a bra built in that lifts and shapes those lovely breasts, and its flowing skirt hits about mid-thigh, beautifully draping those curves. The perfect neckline for a plus size woman’s baby doll lingerie would be scoop or V-neck, and plus size women can get away with baby dolls that have lots of sexy ruffles or feathers since those styles won’t overwhelm their bust but will enhance it.

These are just a few suggestions for buying plus size lingerie. When shopping online, a woman can also find a multitude of articles that have information and tips for buying plus size lingerie. These resources can be a great guide to buying just the right lingerie to enhance and flatter the plus size figure and make a woman of any size feel beautiful and sexy.

Because these days it’s not about covering up but showing off those plus size curves. With a little guidance, a full figured woman can have not only the plus size lingerie she dreams of, but also have the best lingerie for turning what she may think of as flaws into assets - which makes her feel as beautiful as she truly is.

Smoking also puts an expectant mother at risk for complications such as vaginal bleeding, premature rupture of the membranes, early delivery and more. Evidence is showing that a pregnant mother who smokes may have a baby who has a low birth weight. Low birth weight and being born too small is a major cause of infant illness and perinatal death.

Find out what motivates you to smoke. Is it the stimulation? Maybe you do it to relax? Do you use smoking as a way to relieve tension and stress? Maybe you smoke simply out of habit? Are you even aware of when you light up a cigarette or do you find yourself smoking out of habit? If you are able to find out what motivates you to smoke you can find a substitute to replace the smoking.

Find something that will motivate you to quit smoking. This is very easy for a pregnant woman. Your motivation is to have a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby.

Find a method that will help you to quit smoking. Talk with your OB/GYN and find a way that you can quit together. Many expectant mothers chose to quit smoking cold turkey. Others wean themselves off of cigarettes during the first trimester simply because smoking makes them feel ill.

If you like smoking because it keeps your hands busy, try to do something else with your hands. You can suck on a lollipop, play with a pencil, knit, play a musical instrument, paint your fingernails and more.

If you smoke for the oral gratification, find something to replace it. This can include chewing on gum, veggies, popcorn, or simply placing a toothpick in your mouth.

If you smoke because it stimulates you, why not walk instead? Walking can give you an energy boost and help clear your head when you are feeling tired.

If you simply smoke because it is a habit, try to develop a new habit to take its place. Every time you feel like smoking you can go brush your teeth or go to a certain area in your home to relax and listen to music. If you smoke in certain situations or when you eat or drink certain foods, avoid those situations, foods and drinks for a while.

All picture handbags make wonderful gifts for any occasion, but certain features can make them the perfect gift. If you’re shopping for a picture hand

11 Great Features That Your Picture Handbag Must Have
by: Mario Churchill

All picture handbags make wonderful gifts for any occasion, but certain features can make them the perfect gift. If you’re shopping for a picture handbag now, make sure that you’re purchasing what could be termed as “perfect” rather than something merely pretty.

11 Great Features that Your Picture Handbag Must Have

THE RIGHT SIZE – Women are very particularly when it comes to the size of handbags. Women who are organized and lead busy lifestyles tend to prefer large sized bags while women who love having fun usually prefer smaller sized bags more.

THE RIGHT HANDLES – Handles, depending on its design, can make your picture handbag look more elegant or funky. If you can choose the handles for your bag, choose one that will fit your recipient’s hands comfortably. It should be the right size and won’t cause your palms to perspire too much.

COLOR – If you want your recipient to be able to use your picture handbag all the time, choose one that comes in neutral shades like black, white, and gray. If your recipient always goes outdoors, it might be better to choose a darker shade so that smudges of dirt won’t be easily visible.

METAL FEET – This is a must for all types of women. With metal feet, the bottom part of your picture handbag won’t be suffering from any dirt or scratches. You can set it on the table or the ground and still feel assured that the base of your bag will stay dust-free.

PHOTOS – You’ll usually be able to print two photos on one handbag just as long as you’re willing to pay extra. You can also have it turned sepia or black and white to give it a rustic tone.

MATERIAL – Durability is a must for practical women while smoothness of texture is desired more by women who have no problems enjoying creature comforts.

INNER ZIPPERED POCKETS – No matter what the size of your picture handbag is, make sure it has an inner zippered pocket. Women always look for this feature because it allows them to set aside – and protect – small items they have with them all the time.

CELLPHONE POCKET – If your recipient owns a mobile phone then she’s sure to have it with her all the time. You can help her enjoy more convenience and comfort in using her mobile phone by looking for a photo handbag with its own cellphone pocket.

MIRROR POCKET – Women who primp are not necessarily vain. Maybe, they just want to look pretty or presentable for you! Whichever the case is, your recipient is sure to appreciate your gift more if it comes with a mirror pocket.

DETACHABLE PANELS – Not all picture handbags come with this feature, but if you’re lucky enough to find one that does – avail it right away! Detachable panels allow your recipient to use another photo for the bag if she wishes for a different style.

KEY FOBS – If you notice your recipient frequently having a hard time looking for her keys inside her bag, make sure that you buy a picture handbag with key fobs attached to its interior.

By exerting extra time and effort to come up with the perfect picture handbag, you’re sure to make your lovely recipient not just smile but maybe cry tears of joy as well…provided you’ve gotten the photo right as well.

How To Create The Perfect Wardrobe

How To Create The Perfect Wardrobe
by: Susan Lockhart

Want to know the secret to creating a foolproof wardrobe? It's all about "buying less and spending more."

The ultimate goal is to build a wardrobe of clothes that suit you perfectly and that will mix and match easily to create innumerable outfits. It may take you several years to get there, but the result is absolutely worth it.

A perfect wardrobe should be made up of 60% Classic pieces 20% Basics and 20% Trend.

You probably already have a few classic pieces in your wardrobe. These are the items you paid more for but are made of high quality natural fibres and have seen you through several seasons. By purchasing classic pieces over a longer period of time, pairing them with good quality basics and keeping current with a few trend items, you will always look elegant and put together.

Begin by separating your clothing into piles of classics, basics and trend (If you notice anything that is worn, dirty or needs mending, place these in a separate pile).

Classics - The classics are good quality items like jackets, skirts and pants that fit you well, that look great and are still in great condition.

Basics - The basics are good quality t-shirts, stockings and lingerie etc. These are items that get a lot of wear and should be replaced every season or so. The more careful you are when washing and storing your basics, the longer they will last.

Trend - Finally you should be left with a pile of trend clothing. These could be current trends or those long since passed. While you may want to hang on to a few favourites, once the trend is over do you really have any need to keep them? Anything you decide to keep should be stored separately from the rest of your wardrobe.

Once this is done you can create a list of what classic items you need to complete your perfect wardrobe. Here are the top 10 staples of a classic wardrobe:

1. A good trench coat - this is a wardrobe essential. As with all your classic pieces, choose a neutral colour like black, chocolate, navy or beige.
2. Good quality knitwear - Go for natural fibre like 100% wool or cashmere. These are more expensive but much better quality and will last a lot longer. A classic V-neck style in a thin knit will get you through several seasons.
3. A cocktail dress - Look for classic style that flatters your body shape, for example a wrap dress which suits most figures. Remember, it doesn't necessarily have to be a "little black dress." If you don't like black or just want something more interesting, pick a dress in one of your best non-neutral colours.
4. A white shirt - a well cut white shirt with crisp collar and cuffs is always a great addition to any wardrobe. It is perfect for weekend and work wear.
5. A great pair of jeans - look for either a bootcut or straight leg style in a dark, even denim. Definitely no fading, embroidery or hemline detail. Always fit your widest area first, then it can just be a simple alteration to nip in the waist if it is too large.
6. An A-line skirt - A simple A-line skirt is very easy to wear and flattering on most body shapes.
7. Man-style pants - A great cut that skims over the hip area and creates a long leg line. Get a pair in black and beige.
8. Knee high boots - perfect for Autumn/Winter weather. Look for a soft chocolate leather in whatever heel height you are comfortable with.
9. A beige leather tote - always gorgeous, this will go with practically everything.
10. Anything else that suits your own personal style

Now that you have your wardrobe of classics, you can start to create 'clothing clusters.' This is a clever and easy way to build a versatile wardrobe of clothes. Once you get the idea of how clusters work, you'll be able to plan your wardrobe around them and give yourself lots of options.

A clothing cluster is a group of 5-12 pieces (classics and basics) that work in combination with each other. The basic guidelines are:

* Solids mix more easily than prints but prints can bridge the gap two completely different solids
* Choose classic styles with clean, simple lines
* Choose colours from your most flattering colour palette
* Choose styles that suit your shape and your clothing personality
* Invest in quality pieces that will last for many years

Go through your wardrobe and note down all the possible combinations you own and then try them on to make sure they really work. Maybe you could have a friend or your partner take a photo of you in each outfit you create so you can remember all the combinations you came up with.

Teaming classic pieces with good quality basics in your best colours will ensure you always look elegant and put together. Then simply adding a splash of the latest colour or trendy handbag will bring you right up to the minute.

Best of all, taking the time to plan your wardrobe means you'll no longer be tempted to waste money on impulse items that don't go with anything you own.

What is Style? And How To Achieve It

What is Style? And How To Achieve It
by: Susan Lockhart

Despite what the media tells us, true style has nothing to do with having a perfect body or becoming a slave to fashion. It's actually about being comfortable in your own skin and expressing yourself with confidence.

We probably all know a few women who seem to have been born with style and good taste. They are the sort of women who always look great and fit in wherever they go. What do these women have in common? Chances are it's not a size 0 body, a huge income or their own stylist.

What they share is a defined personal style and the ability to dress in a way that makes them feel comfortable and confident.

Women have long been seduced into believing that their external appearance is everything. And if we believe what mass media tells us, we're all abnormal if we don't look like a supermodel.

From an early age, we are influenced by the likes and dislikes of our friends and parents and later, our partners. Our education, family/social situation and career also play a part in telling us what we should look like and how we should act.

The problem arises when we allow all of these external factors to take over and we lose sight of who we are. When this happens we get stuck in a rut; shopping becomes stressful and frustrating; and our catch-cry becomes 'But I've got nothing to wear!'

To develop style means to marry what suits our height, personal colouring, shape and age from what's currently in fashion, and to understand which 'looks' are appropriate for what occasions. In other words, to become a woman who understands fashion without becoming a slave to it.

The fact is that every person, from any background, and any size, age or shape has the ability to dress in a way that is fashionable, flattering and in good taste.

Gaining this knowledge, and experiencing more shopping success, will allow you to express the woman within - the real you. And in turn this will then give you the confidence to become more creative with your wardrobe.

In essence, there are five key points to remember when it comes to personal style:

Appropriateness: for your physical shape, age and the occasion;

Simplicity: less is more. Choosing simple, clean lines and accessories;

Poise: carrying yourself with grace and confidence in every situation;

Authenticity: expressing the real you both in the way you dress and behave;

Courtesy: good humour and respect for others.

As you can see, style is about much more than just the clothes we wear. It is everything that makes us unique - from our personality and lifestyle, through to our education, experiences, values and goals. Apart from body shape and colouring, it is these things that will make or break style success.

Dressing in a way that doesn't fit with who you are as a person means not only will you feel uncomfortable but you will be sending very mixed messages to everyone around you. Feeling self-conscious will destroy any hope of style.

Being able to look in the mirror and like what you see is a very important factor in self-esteem. When you know you look good you walk, talk and think differently. Once you understand the basic rules of colour and style and apply them to your wardrobe in a way that suits you as an individual, you will be amazed at the positive changes that come about in your life.
